There is a giant maze and a smaller maze for kids as well as lots of play equipment and go-karts and an on-site caf. Maze World is home to one of the UK’s largest collections of permanent mazes. With its tall stalk and dense placement, participants find themselves trapped inside the silky confines. Corn, or maize, makes for an ideal maze material. In the United States, mazes made from corn stalks are the most popular. From a mathematical point of view, the ideal algorithm is one that produces each possible maze with equal probability. There are several algorithms that generate perfect mazes. In other parts of the world, mazes are made from shrubs, colored stones and hay bales, just to name a few materials. A maze is perfect when there is exactly one path between each pair of rooms. At its centre is a bronze statue designed by David William-Ellis, representing the water nymph Arethusa. Large groups of people can navigate these large mazes at once. Scone's Murray Star Maze was planted in 1992 with 2,000 beech trees half green, half copper, designed in a tartan five-pointed star by the world-famous maze designer Adrian Fisher. It may have something to do with the challenge of finding your way through to the end of the maze - the feeling of accomplishment that sets in with the completion of any puzzle or riddle. Another all-inclusive activity at the park, the maze is open for 8 weeks only. There's something about these interactive pedestrian puzzles that really captures people's interest. The 2022 maze has been designed in-house and we have a great scavenger hunt in both the main and mini maze. Mazes date back as far as ancient Greece and are enjoyed all over the world today.
